Isla is 6 Months- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography

When Kelly received these photos, she could not stop laughing at what she called "the fairy in the woods" photo. Isla sat on that little tree stump like a champ! We split this session up into two ideas- one inside because it was really hot out and then a few at a nearby park. I like that type of session because even if the outfits are the same, it gives you a different feel. I'm now booking for June and beyond. Use the contact tab on the left if you are interested in having your photos done this year! It's never too early to book and right now, April and May are fully booked. IMG_1302

The S Family- Cranston, RI Family Portraits

Jenn and I had major email problems-- she would email me, I would write back, it would go to her spam and so I would re-send the email from my other address and it would happen again! We finally coordinated schedules and talked on the phone. We thought it was a miracle we were able to connect and get a date for this portrait! The best part is that she submitted one of these photos to Teddy Grahams since we used them as a snack during the session! The power of a cracker! Hahahah. Seriously, I loved this family and we already have another date for this coming September. Repeat clients are the best compliment I can receive. I'd love for you to be one too. IMG_0852

Matt, Tara, Ezra and who we now know as Baby Finn!

As I mentioned in a previous post, Matt and I swapped some family shots this summer and these are just a few of my good friends. It was hot, muggy and humid. Tara was a champ and has since gone on to have Finn- a perfect little brother for Ez. Note the headless shots. They are what I call a "Blueflash." IMG_3765

The M Family- Jamestown, RI Family Photography

Matt from Blueflash Photography is a great friend of mine and we decided to swap some family sessions. In addition, we asked Amanda to come along and bring her family. She works with Matt at Blueflash. We caught some great light and a perfect day. Here are some of my favorites of the very animated, very fun M Family! IMG_7454

The S Family

Carolyn is one of my favorite teachers in the world. I worked with her at Cole and she is truly the definition of a great teacher. When we worked together, I remember how badly she wanted to start a family and just a few years later, she, along with Tim, have three adorable girls. We used land they own in West Greenwich on a damp and drizzly night but the color scheme made everything seem as bright as a summer day.

The W Family

Elaina contacted me to take some one year/family photos for her. As we started to talk, I found out she grew up a half hour from where my husband was born...in Minnesota! Small world! I truly believe RI is a crossroads of the universe. Jack was a dream to photograph. He sat still for a considerable amount of time for me and that allowed me to get some great shots right before sunset. Perfection! IMG_3308

The Crudale Family- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography

Melissa, looking fab-u-lous, after just having had a baby, called me to do her daughter's three year old photos but wanted a few of the baby and a few family portraits as well. The late afternoon sun at their beautiful home made this session a breeze. Melissa is one of my favorite teacher colleagues and one of my first clients so it's always a treat to be asked to take photos time and time again. IMG_2523

Colin's Father's Day Surprise

Jamie asked me to do a few photos for her husband as a Father's Day surprise (if that doesn't point out how far behind on the blog I am, I'm not sure what will). We did a mini session in a half hour and added in some trains to keep Colin's attention. Adding in toys that are favorites at this age are a perfect way to take your photos to the next level. It makes them more personalized and really captures that moment in time. IMG_2341

Ella is One- Cranston, RI Children's Photography

Jen went on a wild goose chase because we had this idea that this photo shoot HAD to have a giant lollipop. Jen could not find one at four different stores but what we realized, soon enough, was that we didn't need the lollipop. There were plenty of other fun things outside and inside the studio that captured Ella's attention-- one of them being Emmett :-D He flirted and gave her a flower. Cue the awwww now. Ella is a few months younger than Emmett but was adorable as she toddled around him while he sat, enjoying his last few days as a crawler. Ella's outfit was perfect for the weather and the jelly shoes made Jen and I reminisce about the late 80s and how everything goes around and comes back around again! Happy birthday, Ella! IMG_1228

The R Family- Rhode Island Family Portraits

Carolyn had emailed me about a mini-session spot but unfortunately, I was all booked so we decided to do a full family session in their backyard. Her backyard had the most perfect, beautiful lilac bushes. It was like they had grown with the intent of becoming a photo backdrop! In home sessions are great- kids are familiar with their surroundings and these two awesome kids gave me all the smiles I needed. IMG_0250

Samantha and Alexis- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography

Samantha and Alexis' grandma is a Cranston reading specialist at one of the schools I used to teach at. She called me in the winter because she knew she wanted to give the gift of one year portraits and a portrait of the two girls together as a present. Her daughter-in-law and I discussed what we wanted to do and met on a sunny but windy day at Goddard Park. Samantha did a great job smiling and clapping and we got her big sis in on a few of the shots to showcase both of these beauties. IMG_9446

Emma, Steven and Derek- Cranston, RI Children's Portraits

I loved Diane's explanation as to why she wanted more photos of the kids a few months after we did their first session... "I want to remember them this way. They change so fast." They really do-- I always thought that people who said that were just making it up. Then I became a mom and now I can't get over how I feel like I'm in a time warp! The nice thing is that at least Emma is still in charge of keeping the boys in line ;-)

Violet is One! Cranston, RI Cake Smash Photography, Cranston, RI Children's Portraiture

Violet returned for her third photo shoot this year. Her mom, Marissa, is always on the lookout for neat props and thought the dress and mirror would go perfect together for her first birthday/cake smash photos. Kate Caito also worked a miracle and made the awesome rainbow banner in about, oh, an hour for us to use. It matched the cake to a T! Great job smashing, Violet. Can't wait to see what Mommy comes up with next! IMG_7501

Braylon- Cranston, RI Children's Portraits

Braylon is probably one of the coolest and most special kids I know. Braylon has a fun, vibrant personality and is an amazing example of how children are inspirational.  Braylon is featured on the Challenged Athletes Foundation page here. My son thinks Braylon is a superhero and there is no doubt in my mind that he is! IMG_8294

Emily- Cranston, RI Children's Photography, Cranston, RI Children's Portraits

Emily is one of my dearest friend's daughter. She is a stunning little girl (to the point that I have had people I work with comment on that "beautiful little girl with the Easter basket!"!) She was also, like Anna, preparing to be a big sister and her wait is over. I get to snuggle up to her little brother next weekend and I'm thrilled for their family to have grown "by two feet!" Charlotte- Cranston, RI Cake Smash, Rhode Island Children's Photography

Charlotte came to visit her Uncle Weston for Easter, so Weston asked me to do a cake smash while she was visiting. He made the cake and the flowers for the background. Uncle of the year, anyone? I'd say so! Charlotte has an awesome personality- she smiles at the drop of a hat and even though she is really mobile, was content to sit in her tutu and smash that cake! She didn't eat any but I'd say she has the art of destroying cake down pat!

Kelly, Rip and Isla- Rhode Island Lifestyle Newborn Portraits

Newborn photography is such a specialized field- you have to be a photographer and baby whisperer at the same time. I wanted to try a few new things and do an in-home newborn portrait since being home with a baby is enough work as it is :) Thanks Kelly and Rip for allowing me to spend the afternoon with you and that little doll- Isla Wednesday.

Tommy's Cake Smash-- Cranston, RI Cake Smash, Cranston, RI Children's Portraiture

Tommy may not have been feeling well the day of his cake smash, but he powered through (coincidentally, he did the same thing my son did- he enjoyed smearing the frosting but not necessarily eating the cake ha ha!). Nothing makes a little cold fade faster than the magic of sprinkles! Julie, Tommy's mom, made the cake and the banner and his grandmother sewed the outfit. It was the perfect combo of color and creativity and made this session stand out! We also did a few photos of Tommy in a handsome outfit...stay tuned for those.
