S and R's Valentine's Day Mini Session- Cranston, RI Photography

Scarlett and Raleigh came in to do a quick little Valentine's Day session and Scarlett showed Raleigh the ropes. He wasn't a fan of my studio lights so Scarlett did a great job giving him toys to play with so he would be more interested in that than me :) Great job, Scarlett! Now taking applications for assistants... hahah!

The C Siblings- Cranston, RI Portraits

These two- all laughs! It's really nice to see siblings with an age difference get along so well. Gwen knows just how to make Sebastian smile (and her style? The best! Look at those boots!) and Sebastian knows how to turn on the charm for the camera. This photo session was the two kids for regular portraits and then a few for the holidays and I like being able to have those two types rolled into one. A few for the card, a few for the wall!

Fall holiday sessions- Part 2

One night in, probably January of last year, I had this idea to do some outdoor photo sessions with a camp fire. Creating this set with young kids around is not something I take lightly so I had a team of people who helped get this together and helped supervise (big shout out to my husband who, despite the chilly temps, worked up a sweat keeping that fire going. Also big thanks to the Boy Scouts, not only for the camping spot, but for teaching Eagle Scout Bryan how to keep that camp fire stoked LOL). This set was probably the most fun my team (Kate, Alicia and I) have had because it was fun to get the props, fun to make the props, and fun to logistically figure out how to redirect the entire day's sessions around 300 campers (a small unexpected twist). Overall, the day was perfect and although I won't likely replicate the exact scene again, it will be a favorite for quite some time.

The Z Siblings

These three sweet kids pulled off a surprise for their mom after the holidays. We originally did a session and the weather did not cooperate. We tried to reschedule but with the kids away at college, it wasn't working out so we secretly hatched a plan. They snuck out of the house to get Chipotle and we did this session. I tagged their mom on FB and their parents were shocked! It was really fun to do this and they are really awesome "kids."

Fall holiday sessions- Part 1

I wanted to offer something a little bit different this year so I went with a more urban setting for my Rhode Island holiday mini sessions. Normally I have a more rural farm setting but I know from personal experience with my own engagement photos, how much the city adds to a photos. The skyline, the buildings, the colors-- they make for a beautiful palette. Each family had their own style and I just really enjoyed seeing their personalities shine through.

2016 Year in Review

It has been another wonderful year! I am very appreciative of all of the families who allow me to keep this business afloat while teaching full time. Your flexibility to work with my schedule and constant motivation makes it possible to have the best of both worlds. It's hard to believe I am entering my 8th year working as a Rhode Island Children's Photographer. Thank you again!

Mia- Rhode Island Senior Portraits

When I was 18, I did not look like this. Maybe add a bad perm and some plaid and you'd have a better picture of what I looked like! Mia was absolutely stunning. Sweet, involved at her school and eager to pose for her senior portraits! It was October when I took these so we really worked with all of the beautiful weather and scenery that Providence had to offer. Cheers, Mia! Best wishes as you enter the second half of your senior year!

The F Family- Rhode Island Portrait Photography

The best part of this job is watching kids grow year after year. I was there when Sally was born- like the day after she came home from the hospital ((swoon)) so it's really a joy to see their personalities develop. I've even become personal friends with Jill outside of photography and we've enjoyed some nice dinners discussing books. I even ran into Leo and Jill at a school event- I guess all roads merge in Rhode Island! So glad I gave Waterplace a chance this year for pics. The drizzly rain was a bummer but the session smile weren't dampened at all.

Colton and Caylin- Providence, RI Portrait Photography, Rhode Island Photographer

2016 as a Rhode Island children's photographer was a great year- but of course, like anything that is worth the work, there's growing pains. I overhauled a lot of the business this year with small changes- new packaging, new website, new approach to what I photograph (pretty much eliminating weddings and newborns to focus on children and family work with a senior or engagement session here and there). While I'm still trying to catch up on blogging, I thought a lot about how to approach my sessions on the blog... a stream of photos with no text, text with photos that maybe no one reads, or text with a scrolling gallery...and I think that's the winner! My test for this is none other than my good friend Lisa's kids. Lisa has been a believer in me since we started teaching together at an elementary school a while back. She was part time and I've since moved on to teach the "big kids" but our ties to each other (and Rhode Island) are strong. Her kids are the sweetest- easy going, laid back and just happy to have their portrait taken. Definitely some of the easiest "work" I do all year.

The S Family- Providence, RI Family Portraits, RI Family PhotographerS

I'm a super huge fan of this family- Jenn and I "met" through a series of lost emails. She was asking me to book a session, I responded I couldn't do it at that point in time, she emailed me again asking, I emailed back again, she sent another email-- I finally tracked down her phone number and called her. We chatted for a while and I rearranged my schedule to work with them because I figured she must be a really cool person to try to get in touch so many times ;) She certainly is and four years later, I'm still taking their family photos! Love it! We hung out at Waterplace Park and it quickly became my new favorite venue! Stay tuned for more sessions there very soon!

My friend, Diana- Cranston, RI Bridal Portraits

Diana works for a major athletic wear company and as a gift, her co-workers helped her reconstruct her mother's wedding dress as a surprise. She wore the dress to the rehearsal and her mom was blown away. I was so honored to take these photos. Diana and I grew up together in Cranston and she has been a friend of mine for over 30 years. Congratulations to the bride (how about them shoes?!)
