The E Family- Smithfield, RI Family Photographs

I thought I was being so proactive in early January. I backed up all my sessions to my external hard drives, cleaned up Lightroom... had everything all set to go for 2016. And then it hit me. I hadn't finished blogging my sessions from the fall. Sigh. This weekend was the first time I had a chance to pull out the hard drives and get these beautiful sessions blogged. The E family was a referral from some other friends of mine and I was so happy to work with them. They were so sweet, easy going and I loved their outfits. I hope to photograph them again when their family expands by 1! IMG_4062

J's Fall Shoot- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography

I've been photographing Jeremy since he was 2 days old and now his mom and I are planning his 5 year birthday shoot. Time goes by so fast. He was a perfect little man during his shoot- and very excited to follow my instructions of throwing leaves and driving a car. See you soon, J man! IMG_5596

E's Senior Portrait- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography, Rhode Island Senior Portraits

Emma is a beautiful and radiant senior. Emma took a negative that happened during her high school experience and created a positive by founding a non-profit organization called Press Pause. Press Pause is a campaign dedicated to today's youth. Her mission is to bring awareness to digital abuse, and teenagers losing themselves to society. I love the message Emma is getting out there to middle and high school students. She is mature beyond her years and it's easy to see that she will go on to do great things. IMG_5969

M is Two- Cranston, RI Children's Photography, Rhode Island Photographer

M's mom made those adorable ladybug letters to go with the theme of her birthday party, but like any good toddler, M insisted the theme be changed to Doc McStuffins :) Well, at least all of mom's hard work resulted in an adorable little shoot with this little cutie. Her hair has the most delicate little curls and she loved my fake snow-- not that we've seen any in RI this December. You won't catch me complaining. It's allowed me to shoot outdoors much later than expected! Happy birthday, M! IMG_0420 IMG_0441 IMG_0505 IMG_0612 IMG_0655

The G Girls- North Kingstown, RI Portrait Photography

Julie's mom has a beautiful home in NK and I tell her that 4th of July almost beats Christmas because there is little I love more than sailing (capsizing) a boat down there. Julie wanted to do a late fall shoot there and the weather was very kind to us. The hour before sunset was beautiful with the sun setting perfectly as we wrapped up the session. It's an awesome thing to grow up with someone (Julie was the french horn player in back of me in marching band) and now see them as a mom. Being a mom is a role she fills effortlessly. I love the choices Julie had prints made of as well. Her house is always full of actual prints- a reminder to everyone that prints should live not the wall, not the computer. IMG_3684

The Q Family- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography

It's really hard to sum up what this family means to me, especially Ilsy, who takes care of Emmett and helps me keep the studio running. She is always bustling around getting things cleaned, moved, dusted-- all because she is true friend. She's the definition of what happens when your friends become your family. These portraits were her 25th anniversary gift from me. Her daughters threw them a beautiful party and had the photos on display. That was quite an honor for me. IMG_3257 IMG_3271

C's Newborn Session- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography

I was really excited for this session on a lot of levels. Lisa and I talked about what she liked and when she said her husband cut a stump for me to use, I was even more excited! I came home from work to find a giant stump in my studio and some neat weathered pallets. We used those props but also wanted some simple family portraits capturing their first few days as a family of four. C was only 5 days during this shoot and was a champ! IMG_2490

The H Family Mini Session

In late September I hosted a day of mini sessions for families looking to update their portraits. These are perfect sessions for the little ones- the short time frame gives me just enough time to get some great new shots but not burn them out with multiple locations and outfit changes. I offer mini sessions three times per year so make sure to follow me on Facebook or check back here often to see the dates as they become available. PS- Aunties like to come along on mini sessions too :) IMG_1972

The S Family- Lincoln, RI Family Portraits, Lincoln, RI Family Photographer

Jen and I are so similar. She books her family portraits literally 12 months in advance and I LOVE THAT because I'm like that too. Jen likes to have time to plan everything out and for us to have ample time to look at locations. I happened to drive around Lincoln a few months ago and I emailed her saying that I thought I had found a good location. We decided where to meet and then I called her that day and said, "Oh! I found a place with better lighting!" The kids had a great time just running around and enjoying nature. I love that the kids bring their favorite stuffed animals with them. It's so much fun to see how their likes and favorites change year to year! IMG_8997

The C Family- Cranston, RI Family Photography

Matt and Tara, the brains, beauty and creative forces behind Blueflash Photography, do a family photo swap with us each year. For about a month leading up to it, we exchange all kind of emails that say things like, "Where should we do this?" "I don't know. What do you think?" "I'm not sure. Ask Tara." Then we ask Tara, and she says she isn't sure. LOL. It's tough to find a spot that suits both families, isn't too crowded and has a chance for multiple looks. We ended up in Warwick at Rocky Point and LOVED it. Matt, Tara, Ez and Finn are a great family to work with because they are easy going and happy to have their pictures taken. I think we both go into these sessions with the expectation that we trust each other's judgment and we know they are photos of us, just as we are now. So, if the kids cry or they aren't into standing in one spot, we go with it. Emmett spent half the session running in circles but Matt still got great photos. I guess you just have to embrace the "anything goes," when working with toddlers. I will take candid, fun, laughter and sun flare over posed any day and I'm glad the Celeste family does too! The P Family- Narragansett, RI Family Portraits

Deb wanted to make sure her family portraits reflected the place her family loves the most-- down at their family's beach house in Narragansett. We met on a *bright* sunny day and had some more traditional photos done before everyone jumped in the water and splashed away. So. much. fun!!!! The portraits of them running in the water are my faves. I love them so much, I considered having as a canvas in my own house :) IMG_6481
